Lyells is the oldest family butchers in Boston.

James married Florence May Taylor and they had a son Charles William Lyell (known as Billy), in 1924.

The business to this day still makes 'hand-raised' pork pies using the families traditional recipe handed down through the generations and of course not forgetting their Lincolnshire Sausages mmmm..... yummy!

The shop is still where it has always been , 33 Wide Bargate, Boston.

Billy lied about his age and joined RAF Bomber Command at the age of seventeen and a half in 1941.  Based in Suffolk he successfully completed twenty-nine missions as a rear gunner in the Avro Lancaster.

In 1945 he returned home marrying Nora Redford and took over the family business.

They had a daughter Christine, who now runs the business with her two sons, Steven and James.

Steven's wife Rosemary plays an important part as do their two daughters.
